Edouard Manet art prints & posters, available now at artrepublic.com

Édouard Manet (1832–1883) was a French painter and draftsman known as one of the most controversial artists of his time, because of the appearance of nude or barely-dressed subjects in his art prints. Édouard Manet's paintings were influenced by the Impressionist, yet he was uninterested in becoming involved with exhibitions during this era in art. He was more keen on displaying his works at the annual Paris Salon - an official exhibit hosted by the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris - so he could avoid any notions that he was a representative of the impressionist style of painting. Although Édouard Manet was also fond of using lighter colours, his paintings often had a hint of black, which was not typical in most paintings during his time. At artrepublic, enjoy art prints from this major artist from the 19th century.
