From an edition of 100, Reduce Speed Now is an artwork by Nessie Ramm. A giclée print on minuet paper, it is signed and numbered by the artist.
Art by its very nature transforms everyday materials - like stone, clay, fabric, metal, and pigments - into something of significance, beauty and value. So transforming a squashed can or dumped sign into an artwork is very much in this tradition.

Our Notes
Reduce Speed Now is an innovative artwork in which Nessie Ramm juxtaposes man-made traffic signs with the fauna found on the roadsides of Britain. Through a colour scheme of multiple green hues, Nessie evokes the vibrancy of a grassy verge and makes it appear as if the plants depicted are bursting out of the picture frame. We love how Nessie uses a bird's-eye view in her work, shedding new light on the subject matter and bringing often overlooked objects to our attention.
Nessie's knowledge of the natural world can be seen in the details included in this artwork and the variety of plants depicted. The bright, striking colour scheme and its layout make this a beautiful statement piece, which could be used to brighten up a blank wall or inject colour into a dull room.

In 2017 Ramm realised she found a wider variety of wildflowers on road verges than ‘in the wild.’ This provoked a campaign to regenerate local verges, and Ramm’s desire to protect our wildlife and wildflowers. As a litter-picker for her village, Ramm often came across dumped road signs. She began to paint on the road signs, enjoying the translucent and glimmering effect caused by applying paint to metal. In her transformation of road signs, she started to embrace the text, allowing the words to become part of the art. We love how Ramm incorporates the instructions of the road signs into her art, allowing them to take on a whole different meaning.
What is a limited edition?
So you’ve found your perfect limited edition artwork, but what does this actually mean? Limited editions are original artworks that an artist creates in a particular print medium, such as a giclée print, screen print or photograph. Our limited edition artworks are specifically created by our talented artists with a maximum edition number in mind. The term ‘limited edition’ refers to the total number of artworks that are available for that particular piece. The edition size can vary widely between artworks, however most of the time our artists create editions in small numbers ranging from 10 to a few hundred.
What is Archival Giclée
Giclée (/ʒiːˈkleɪ/ zhee-KLAY) is a neologism, ultimately derived from the French word gicleur, coined in 1991 by printmaker Jack Duganne for fine art digital prints made using inkjet printers. The name was originally applied to fine art prints created on a modified Iris printer in a process invented in the late 1980s. It has since been used widely to mean any fine-art printing, usually archival, printed by inkjet. It is often used by artists, galleries, and print shops for their high quality printing, but is also used generically for art printing of any quality.
