Description
‘Iridescent Scarab Beetle’ is an original piece by Louise McNaught, using Oil Paint on an Egyptian Piastres note. The piece is signed and dated by the artist.
Details
The work of Louise McNaught takes its inspiration form the natural world: raising the status of animals and creatures to the majestic and sublime, McNaught creates bold images, using striking colour and compositional techniques.
For ‘Iridescent Scarab Beetle’, McNaught has taken an Egyptian Piastres Note, and painted a huge scarab beetle onto one side, the iridescence of its shell brilliantly captured in shades of deep purple, blue, and green. Sensitive to the note’s colours and composition, McNaught’s beetle sits beautifully beside panels of hieroglyphs and paintings of palm fronds and reed boats, in this novel little nugget of contemporary art.
