Ukranian artist-due, Interesni Kazki, are known for their large-scale murals, which grace the walls of cities across the globe from, Mexico to Moscow, Miami to Mumbai. Aleksei Bordusov and Vladimir Manzhos met in 1999, when both were working at the cutting edge of contemporary street artist. By 2004, they had crystallised as Interesni Kazki, taking their nom-de-plume from the Slavic words for ‘Interesting’ and ‘Fairytale’. In their own words: “Interesni (interesting) because everything we have made was interesting first of all for ourselves. Kazki (fairytales) because we’ve done fairy things.” The traditional, Eastern European fairytale, in all of its dreamy surreality, is the starting point for their most of their urban artworks. Meticulously crafted, each mural creates unusual and imaginative imagery, interweaving a rich cast of characters in sprawling dreamscapes, using bright colours and smooth gradients. Their work is informed by a diverse range of sources, from the divinity of God to the purity of the aesthetic process. Most recently, their works have been included in the LGZ Festival in Moscow, Art Basel in Miami, Boombarstick Festival in Croatia and FAME Festival in Italy. Today, their mega-murals can be seen in countries as varied as South Africa, Mexico, USA, Russia & Portugal.
