Dominic Bradnum Artist Biography
Dominic Bradnum is a visual and audio artist working in Brighton. He creates very distinctive, highly saturated images of neon lights in oil paint. Dominic manages to capture the flickering, incandescent qualities of neon light brilliantly through building up layers of paint on canvas. He technique involves blending the pigment, to create a subtle glow that is characteristic of neon signage.The subject matter in his work often revolves around word play, one liners and familiar phrases. In his paintings luminous text emerges from the darkness creating a mesmerising illusion of artificial light. Winner of the Wells Art Contemporary 2013, Dominic has exhibited throughout the UK and in Europe, alongside artistic heavyweights such as Sir Peter Blake, Damien Hirst and Bruce McLean. He currently has works in private collections in Geneva, Beirut, London, Amsterdam and Dublin. In 2014 Dominic had a sell out exhibition at the luxury 5 star hotel 45 Park Lane in London. All 20 of his original pieces were purchased by two overseas buyers and went into private collections. 45 Park Lanes’ Art Curator, Roy Ackerman spoke highly of the artist when he said “The fact that this young artist has sold his entire exhibition in such shot space of time is testament to his unique talent, and Dominic looks forward to procuring private commissions based on the enthusiasm shown at his sell out show”.Dominic is certainly a man of many talents, as well as making unique neon paintings he is also a talented musician, creating bespoke symphonies in remote locations on old analogue recording equipment. He is also a DJ, prolific blogger and toy maker!
