Mariele Neudecker Artist Biography
Mariele Neudecker plays with our perceptions, distorting dimensions and scale to create sublime landscapes and a version reality slightly different from our own.Neudecker uses a broad range of media including sculpture, installation, film and photography. Her practice investigates the formation and historical dissemination of cultural constructs around the natural world, focusing particularly on landscape representations within the Northern European Romantic tradition and todayﾒs notions of the Sublime. Central to the work is the human interest and relationship to landscape and its images used metaphorically for human psychology.German-born Mariele Neudecker studied at Goldsmiths Collage and Chelsea School of Art and Design, and now lives and works in Bristol. She is nationally and internationally recognised, and has shown in Biennales in Japan, Australia and Singapore, as well as solo shows at the Ikon Gallery, Tate St Ives and Tate Britain.
