Seb Lester Artist Biography
Seb Lester is best known for his work as a type designer. His limited edition prints reflect his passion for letterforms and show just how beautiful words and typefaces can be. ‘Seb’ Lester trained in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martin's in London. He now works in Lewes in East Sussex as a type designer, illustrator and artist. His home studio is built into the banks of one of the oldest castles in England.
Passionate about letter forms, he has become one of the highest profile calligraphers in the world with over 500,000 accounts following his daily calligraphic updates on social media sites like Instagram and Facebook. He has developed typefaces and type illustrations for some of the world’s biggest companies, publications and events, including the likes of NASA, Apple, Nike, Intel, The New York Times, The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and JD Salinger’s final re-issue of The Catcher in the Rye. Previously a Senior Type Designer at Monotype for nine years, he has developed custom typefaces for many very familiar brands including British Airways, Intel, Waitrose, The Daily Telegraph, H&M and Barclays.
