Forney Artist Biography
Steve Forney's is a freelance illustrator who beautifully captures the simplicity, elegance and power of this period's graphic style. Steve Forney is a who has been drawing art, prints and posters for as long as he can remember. As a child, he would often ignore his mother’s calls to come to dinner so that he could continue drawing. In 1991, he graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, where he would often doodle in his notebook during lectures. After graduation he decided it was time to follow his passion and take up illustration.
Along with an interest in history and international events, Forney enjoys travel, which is a theme in many of his art, prints and posters. He often draws inspiration from the landscape and architecture of his northern California home. Steve Forney works both digitally and with an airbrush, and has been influenced by Joseph Binder, A.M. Cassandre and Abram Games, all of whom used airbrushes in their careers.
While some of his pieces pay homage to these 20th-century masters, he has worked on commercial projects for a range of clients, including Federal Express, Coca-Cola, Sports Illustrated, Carnival Cruise Lines and Mondavi Wines.
