This week has seen the arrival of a new wave of American talent to hit our London gallery. We are extremely fortunate to feature Adam 5100 & Broken Crow, both with very sought-after original works.  We also have Adam 5100’s first print in the UK and Broken Crow’s first print ever! If you are not familiar with Adam 5100’s work we’re confident you soon will be. His stencil works take on a satirical look, challenging the concepts of modernity. Within his work he uses spaces and light as a language, describing forgotten places to evoke their story and context within present day. He’s a graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts where he received many awards for his work & has since featured in shows on both sides of the Atlantic. Broken Crow is best known for his outlandish, technicolour images of all kinds of animals, adorning all forms of buildings in all sorts of places. In the UK he’s probably best known for his work at the first Cans Festival in London, which did no harm to his growing reputation as an innovator of the American street art scene. Adam 5100 & Broken Crow are merely the latest additions to the list of American street artists already residing in our London gallery. Works by Faile, Logan Hicks, Bobby Hill & the legendary Saber can also be found if you are favouring something stateside. Our London gallery is very pleased to announce a brand new artist, Bobby Hill. Bobby is a Brooklyn based street artist who, through his artwork, creates a fantastic blend of Warholian pop imagery and a raw graffiti edge reminiscent of New York in the 1980’s. After meeting through a chance encounter whilst he was touring through Europe, we instantly fell in love with his work & this absolute character of an artist & wanted more. For his first outing in the United Kingdom Bobby has produced for us seven completely unique works, five on paper & two on canvas. They all feature silkscreen, acrylic paint & spray paint. Bobby Hill comes to us with a growing reputation from the States. He has been commissioned to produce imagery on a regular basis for the famous street culture/hip-hop magazine The Source, which has helped further Bobby’s name. He has sold his pieces to collectors across America & more recently in Europe so he is definitely one to watch. If you are interested in the pieces shown or to enquire about other works we have in the gallery call +44 (0)20 7240 7909 or email soho@artrepublic.com Return to our London section $test =

Destroy London-based sculptor and stencil artist D*Face revealed his true identity at the opening of his new solo show in London. In his interview with BBC London Dean Stockton (a.k.a. D*Face) said as he gets older and displays his works in galleries as well as on the street he see less of a need to hide is identity. He also commented on how the recent increase in CCTV prevents him and other artists from creating detailed works in public. Click here to view the full interview with BBC London. Before he revealed his identity he did have one last big stunt. Along with a group of assistants disgusted as council workers he planted several large concrete spray cans around London and in broad daylight. His solo show ‘aPOPcalypse Now’ at the black rat press gallery in London has been a big success. The newly released limited edition print 'Statue of Liberty' sold out with the publishers on the opening night. D*Face’s subversive images involve a family of dysfunctional characters, such as ‘D*Dog’ which he uses to encourage the public to not just ‘see’ but to look at their surroundings.  His latest show ‘aPOPcalypse Now’ re-works popular images from advertising and comic books to comment on the corruptive nature of fame, celebrity and consumerism. artzine your guide to everything that’s happening in the art world $test =

artrepublic Soho has recently acquired two magnificent works by man of the moment Charming Baker.  Following on from his very successful recent show in East London, Charming’s reputation as an artist who can successfully bridge fine and urban art has been greatly amplified with collectors from both these worlds snapping up his original canvasses.  His work best described as darkly humorous point making, an element that has been compared with the street art style popularised by Banksy.  This description of his work is perfectly illustrated in the two original canvases we have on display in our gallery in  London : ‘Stereotype is in the Eye of the Beholder’ & ‘The Fruit of a Trivial Pursuit of Supremacy Tastes of Self Defeat’. Both of these works are unique and beautifully executed in oil paint on very fine, stretched Irish linen.  Destroy From here on, with a show to be held in the same Los Angeles based gallery that Nick Walker graced earlier in the year, the chances to own an original work of art by Charming Baker is becoming less and less. Probably best to grab yours now while you can! For all enquiries about the Charming Baker works please call our Soho gallery on +44 020 7240 7909 or email soho@artrepublic.com artzine your guide to everything that’s happening in the art world Destroy We also have a Limited Edition print by Charming Baker available online and in our Brighton Gallery click here to find our more. $test =
