‘Tile’ is a Screen Print by contemporary illustrator Gemma Compton. Finished with torn edges and hand laid gold leaf, the print is from a limited edition of 25 and is signed and numbered by the artist.
Contemporary artist Gemma Compton mixes urban style with the beauty of nature for a distinctive and utterly breathtaking aesthetic. Flowers and butterflies adorn her colourful prints, which ponder themes of life and death, love and loss in the most expressive of forms. ‘Tile’ brings together the sell-out originals that Compton created exclusively for artrepublic’s art yard sale in June 2016, into one beautiful, limited edition print.
Using shimmering strips of gold leaf, Compton has sectioned the piece into nine boxes, each one containing vivid flowers, fluttering birds, and delicate butterflies in bold tones of blue against white. In amongst the flora and fauna, Compton has sketched feminine features, from pouting lips, to big, beautiful eyes, which merge seamlessly with the scenes of nature to create a striking work of contemporary art.
