‘Slumdog Greece’ is a fantastic Giclee print from Danad Design in collaboration with Dissent. This piece is printed on 310gsm William Turner Fine art paper and from a Limited Edition of 25.
Danad Design was founded back in 1958 as an experimental Design company but has remained dormant for more than half a century. More recently Danad has been unearthing previously unseen bodies of work from a remarkable and extensive archive to combine 1920’s and 1930’s imagery and combine with contemporary images – in this particular piece, the works of Dissent.
‘Slumdog Greece’ - a spin on Slumdog Millionaire – While Slumdog millionaire was based around innocent children in India, ‘Dissent’ ironically uses sentimental images from the 1920’s set against a not so appealing modern backdrop. This piece encompasses imagery of Greece painted in 1920 illustrative style imagery with a contrasting photographic image of a poverty stricken modern day Greece. This piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
