‘The Same Song’ is a Linocut by contemporary print-maker, Chris Bourke. Printed onto handmade Indian paper, the print is from a limited edition of 150 and is signed and numbered by the artist.
Contemporary artist Chris Bourke produces beautiful prints from hand-made Linocuts. Using clean lines and a predominantly monochrome palette, Bourke archives a certain naive charm, built around stripped back simplicity. His prints are inspired by tattoo art and religious iconography, a pairing that works to exceptional success, centring around graphic patterns, typography and illustrative imagery, to create miniature tableaus and iconic motifs.
‘The Same Song’ depicts two swallows, drawn in thick lines of inky black, flapping at a bright, red love-heart. A singe tear of gold leaf falls between the perfect symmetry of the birds, creating a striking relationship between colour, texture and composition: simply stunning.
