Richard Levine

Richard Levine is a contemporary, graphic artist whose work seamlessly fuses the abstract with the figurative to create a hallucinogenic, twenty-first century aesthetic. Graduating with a graphic design and illustration degree from Chelsea School of Art, Levine spent time working in a holographic design studio and 3D post house, branching out into motion graphics. These disciplines would go on to have profound impact on Levine’s developing style, which plays with geometrical structures, deeply reminiscent of the delicate, technological networks that form the make-up of computer generated images. Bright blocks of colour and bold patterns merge with dimension-bending shapes and graphics, to explore the topology of iconic, cultural icons. Texture, light, and illusionistic motion are central, resulting in a hypnotic and tactile revision of the flat, printed image. Amongst his greatest influences, Levine cites the Bauhaus, Jan Tschichold, Piet Swart, the Memphis Group, Victor Vasarely and Op Art of the 60s and 70s. His innovative work takes the form of both fine art originals and limited edition prints.
