‘Police Escort, New York’ is a Giclée print by contemporary photographer David Pexton. Printed onto 300gsm Minuet Paper, the print is from a limited edition of 50 and is signed and numbered by the artist.
British-born, and now Brooklyn-based, contemporary photographer David Pexton is a master of the lens. His ardent passion for the city that never sleeps is infectious: roaming the metropolis, Pexton is able to capture every tiny detail of the urban space, or express the character of a passer-by in even the smallest gestural expression.
With an exceptional eye for colour and composition, Pexton’s work - which incorporates 35mm, Medium Format and Instant film - really packs a punch.
Like a still from a movie-scene, ‘Police Escrot, New York’ depicts a row of yellow taxicabs, halted at a zebra crossing while, at the centre of the line of traffic, two police motorbikes flank a black car.
The almost-perfect symmetry of the motorbikes and taxicabs is striking, and Pexton has composed an impressive snapshot, responding to the lines of the city, as the horizontal stripes of the crossing complement the vertical reach of the tall buildings in the background.
