She died in 1962 and in the following years Warhol made a series of silkscreens using a publicity photo of her from the film Niagara 1953, taken by Gene Kornman. This is one of a series of silkscreens in different colours produced by Warhol and his assistants in the Factory Studio New York. Wahol’s images of in different colours published by the artist and his assistants under the name Factory Additions, New York, in 1967 Marilyn Monroe are some of his best known and the style has been used by countless artists.
