Graduating from Harrogate College with an Arts Foundation Diploma, and then in Fine Art from Manchester Metropolitan University, Marcus Hammond has since honed his talent to create contemporary mixed-media art prints, most of them relating to landscapes and abstraction. Not really a traditional abstract artist, Hammond uses abstraction as part of his working method, regarding the reality of space, time and physical connection. He uses a variety of textures and colours to create a relationship with the landscape. His aim is not to 'photograph' nature, but to represent nature, to express ideas about states of being. Marcus has exhibited in London, Manchester, Harrogate and York, and has produced poster commissions for Harrogate Borough Council including an iconic image of the Yorkshire departure of the Tour de France in 2014.
