‘Mad in England - Brexshit Special’ is a Giclee Print by contemporary artist Carrie Reichardt. Printed onto 300gsm Minuet Paper using a Silkscreen Glaze, the print is from a limited edition of 25 and is signed and numbered by the artist.
Self-styled ‘craftivist’ Carrie Reichardt’s work intersects craft and activism, using mural, mosaic and screen-printing to forge a pioneering aesthetic. Inspired by the British tradition of subversive ceramics, her work is characteristically colourful, attuned to the tactile as much as the visual, incorporating text to convey a powerful message.
‘Mad in England - Brexshit Special’ depicts the image of a golden, gilt frame, containing a royal-red mosaic pattern, studded with eclectic imagery. Using white tiles for striking constant, Reichardt has created the image of the British crown with the words ‘Mad in England’ positioned underneath. Forget the jingoistic myth of ‘made in England’, Reichardt’s piece seems to say; the only thing that rhetoric has exposed is our own madness in the chaos of ‘Brexshit’. Here here!
