Hedy Lamar - Hedy Watch The Skies is a singed limited edition two colour silkscreen on 330gsm Fedrigoni paper and is part of Pure Evil’s iconic nightmare series of works.
For this print, Pure Evil has chosen the Hollywood actress and inventor Hedy Lamar. She was best known for her controversial role in the film Ecstasy where she was briefly seen swimming in the nude and running naked. She went on to star in many Hollywood films from the 1930 - 1960’s.
However she was also an avid inventor and during WWII she worked with composer George Antheil to develop spread spectrum and frequency hopping technology. The principles of this work allowed the development off Wi-Fi, CDMA, and Bluetooth technologies, and as a result she was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014.
Pure Evil says about this print:
“I wanted to show how Hedy is an inspiring figure for a new generation of powerful activist women. I wanted to make a really simplified NO BULLSHIT image of her because that is how I make my art. Keep it simple. No fake shit."
