Colour is Sound are a Brighton-based art collective, crafting ‘Pop art for the 21st Century inspired by seminal music that changed the culture forever.’ Their limited edition prints feature bold, graphic compositions, using brightly coloured imagery to symbolise the masters of the music industry.
Inspired by Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, ’Echo Boom’ depicts an abstract geometric design, loosely assembled from the Jamaican music producer’s initials, in the colours of his national flag. The final image hints at futuristic technology, brilliantly alluding to Perry’s experimental studio set-up which famously pioneered dub music in the 1970s. Merging fluidity with geometry, blocky colour with high-impact composition, ‘Echo Boom’ is a paragon of contemporary Pop Art.
