Penelope Kenny is an Australian born artist who graduated in Visual Art at the University of Melbourne. She then went onto complete her education gaining a BA (Hons) in Printmaking at the University of Brighton, where she now works and lives. Her work explores the relationships between humans and other animals - in particular evolution, hybrids and biotechnology. Inspired by Darwinism, dioramas, natural history illustration and taxidermy, her practice consists of representing the postmodern animal on wallpaper, books and fine art prints. Through her hybrid creatures, she investigates the potential outcomes of humans trying to control evolution through genetic manipulation and scientific tampering within the species’ boundaries. Using a subdued and minimal colour palette, Penelope Kenny has exhibited her work all over the world. Why not take a look at her unusual art prints yourself.
