Howard Hodgkin is an English painter, printmaker and collector, born in 1932. Hodgkin's art prints often refer to memories and private experiences, but deliberately avoid the illustrational. Though his works and his manic humor, his art prints are often appearing spontaneous, as the result of an extensive process of layering and over-painting. Working on canvas but also on assertive wooden supports, his preference was for emotionally charged figurative groupings in which the figures appeared embedded in the matrix of the picture.
