Martin uses a Pop Art aesthetic with a Fine Art approach - working predominately with charcoal and Conte crayon; he creates arresting portraits usually with the inclusion of a bird captured in flight. He has also focused recently on the female form and endeavours to make his subjects appear empowered and strong. After studying Fine Art (graduating in 1996) he has since been perfecting his style of both drawing and painting to produce beautiful art prints - as he believes that an artist is always evolving. It is clear from his works that Martin Varennes-Cooke is a true bird lover and finds them fascinating to paint. Cooke has also been influenced by a lot of graffiti art which mixes both human and animal forms in a fantastic and contemporary way. If you want an art print by Martin Varennes-Cooke in your home.
