This museum art print is a Pop Art classic printed on fine art paper.

Andy Warhol’s iconic cow was first published for his ‘retirement’ exhibition at Leo Castelli Gallery, New York, in April 1966. The photographic image was taken from an unidentified book on animal husbandry and the caption in the book read, “A Good Jersey Head”.

Warhol’s beautiful orange cow is removed from the landscape and treated as a decorative motif. Against a cornflower blue background, she instantly and unforgettably pops!

About Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is probably the most famous member of the Pop Art movement. Virtually any image that was in the public domain was a prime target for the Warhol treatment. Sculptures of Brillo soap pad boxes, Coca-Cola bottles and replications of popular icons such as Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor and most famously Marilyn Monroe are just some of his huge body of work.
