DetailsThis is a fine art print of Double Elvis 1963, by renowned Pop artist Andy Warhol. The original is a silkscreen ink on synthetic polymer paint on canvas and is a prime example of Warhol,s early photographic silkscreen technique. The portrait forms part of a series of 22 images of Elvis, nine of which are now in major museum collections around the world. The print depicts Elvis Presley as a cowboy, complete with holster and pistol pointed at the viewer. The piece was inspired by Elvis Presley,s successful 1960 film Flaming Star,, in which the singer-actor played a half white, half Native American, struggling between two cultures. One of Warhol,s Double Elvis silkscreen originals fetched a record $37m at auction in 2012.
