Dining Room at the Spread Eagle (Giclee) by Edward Ardizzone

This is a beautiful giclee reproduction of one of a series of lithographs by Edward Ardizzone depicting London pubs first published in 1939. This print perfectly captures the enjoyments of Sunday lunchtime in a local London pub. Edward Ardizzone was an accomplished illustrator and writer. He was an official war artist during WWII but returned to book illustration after the war. Ardizzone loved the locals he frequented and did much of his creative thinking over a pint of good bitter. He could often be seen sketching on anything he had to hand, a bus ticket, a cigarette packet or a beer mat.
