Prolific painter Dave White has recently been featured by the purveyors of cool, Hypebeast

The online magazine have featured White several times in the past, this time sharing an Instagram shot of the artist’s go to sneakers that he wears when creating his incredible paintings.

“These are original, for the past 20 years they have been the shoes I’ve painted in. Echoes and memories of past paintings are reflected in them,” said White in the caption taken from his social media feed.

Hypebeast followed up the post with another blog, this time showing an unreleased sample of Dave White’s 2012 collaboration with Air Jordan, which immediately caught the attention of legions of diehard sneaker heads.

It’s been 10 years since Dave left the sneaker world behind in his artwork, having focused on the motif during the early stages of his career. In recent year his explorations into to depicting a variety of animals, with a strong focus on endangered species.

Dave White is well known for playing a major role in the trainer art movement with his expressive and idiosyncratic renderings of classic trainers including Nike Air Max’s and Dunks and Jordans.

“I made the first sneaker painting in 2002. I wanted to immortalise them, present them as works of art in their own right and take them from objects to be used and thrown away to things to be obsessively viewed and enjoyed.” – Dave White

The artist’s favourite footwear is encrusted with 20 year’s worth of paint.

“These are original, for the past 20 years they have been the shoes I’ve painted in. Last year saw the release of Dave White's latest groundbreaking collaboration with Nike on two pairs of Air Max 95.
