This breathtaking new show at Ink_d will preview exciting & unseen-before originals, limited editions, hand finished screen prints, box sets and Perspex work.

In Lidia’s art every picture tells a story; the symbols, icons and images in each work are there for a reason and all have meaning taken from personal and life experiences, family relationships, politics, social criticism & religion. There is nothing in Lydia’s life that is not in her pictures.

Lidia who continually challenges and reinvents herself works at a frenetic pace. The talented artist describes her excitement about preparing for her first solo show. “Having my first solo show in Brighton is very special to me as it is where my artistic career really took off. Having spent years working for clients I am enjoying the opportunity to have complete creative freedom and bring to life all the ideas I have had in my head and translate them into the wonderful space of the Ink_d Gallery”.

Lidia who hails from Spain was discovered by the gallery when she was working as a graphic designer in Brighton. Her flamboyant and colourful compositions have proved popular with her series of prints based on her family. She is a natural born traveller and loves to move to new cities and indulge in all the cultural differences and fun she encounters. She has a passion for creating powerful, thought provoking images, trying new techniques and experimenting with materials.

Her artistic career began with a desire to create a screenprint to hang in her home. A short course at Brighton University helped her achieve this and became her first limited edition print ‘Inma la Dulce’. Lidia realised the potential to sell her work when friends and family wanted to buy her prints and a chance conversation with a colleague led her to the artrepublic gallery where the rest of the edition was snapped up and sold within weeks. The rest, they say is history.
