Heidi Konig biography in Biographies from the artzine on artrepublic.com

Heidi works on her prints in a very spontaneous way using the etching plate as a drawing board. She will then hand colour every print with many of the key details being added after they have been through the press.

Travel is an important inspiration for Heidi and she makes regular trips overseas to immerse herself in the sights sounds and smells of new cultures and environments. Her bold abstract etchings convey a sensual picture of where she has been and what she has experienced.

Heidis first introduction to printing was through her grandfather who produced many woodcuts and linocuts. As a small child she was fascinated with the various printing techniques and all the different tools that he used.

Heidi studied at Brighton University and the Slade School of Fine Art London. Since then she has received numerous awards and commissions for her work and her monotypes, etchings and paintings can be found in public and private collections all over the world.
