His work starts with a thumbnail sketch of a layout, working from memory. He then returns to the subject and draws upon it using the detail to provide the texture and pattern, such recognizable elements as windows, facades, outline of roofs against the sky enable him to build up a graphic construction that is dense and complex without being overpowering. Andy McLynn has lived in Brighton since 1992 and studied illustration at Brighton University. After graduating he won several commissions, including two books for Hodder Headline and editorial work for national press. “I have always had an interest in country landscapes but find the shapes and surfaces of towns and cities even more interesting.
