kennardphillipps biography in Biographies from the artzine on artrepublic.comkennardphillipps is a collaboration between Cat Picton Phillipps and Peter Kennard who have been working since 2002 to produce art in response to the invasion of Iraq. It has now evolved to confront power and war across the globe. Their work is made as a critical tool that connects to international movements for social and political change. They don’t see the work as separate to social and political movements that are confronting established political and economic systems. They see it as part of those movements, the visual arm of protest. From throwing dust, blood and oil onto a flatbed scanner for their first series of prints (Award) the collaborative work by Peter Kennard and Cat Picton Phillipps has grown in size, style and medium. Their Award print portfolio is in the V&A permanent collection and their commissioned works include the exhibition DEMO for London’s City Hall and the Palestinian Cultural Centre in London. Photo Op an editioned lightbox, was bought by Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh. Cat Picton Phillipps was born 1972 in Edinburgh, Peter Kennard in 1949 in London. Browse Prints |
