Some of Indiana's most famous works incorporate the word LOVE including a number of paintings and sculptures. He gained a reputation for his Pop Art incorporating letters and signs onto a variety of geometric shapes. 

Born Robert Clark he took the name of the state in which he was born. After studying in Indianapolis, Ithaca, Chicago, Edinburgh and London, he settled in New York in 1956. 

He worked with Andy Warhol on the film 'Eat' (1964) and created a six metre sign reading EAT for The New York State Pavilion during the New York World's Fair.
