They both had to flee the Russian Revolution and settled in Paris. At this time, writers, fellow artists and members of the aristocracy often featured in Tamara de Lempicka paintings. Throughout the 20’s and 30’s she was very successful. In 1939 she moved to the USA with her second husband Baron Raoul Huffner. She spent the rest of her life in the USA until her death in 1980.
