Shepard Fairey and other artists exhibit images of Barack Obama in articles from the artzine on artrepublic.com

Coinciding with the Democratic National Convention in Denver USA during August 2008 was an exhibition at the Manifest Hope Gallery, within the Andenken Gallery.

This exhibition featured works by among others Ron English, Tom Slaughter and a mural created by the renowned artist Shepard Fairey (aka. Obey) featuring Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Shepard Fairey was one of the artists who helped create the exhibition and had this to say about the presidential nominee "Obama has engaged the creative community in a way unseen before."

The exhibition covered 10,000sq. ft. and included contributions from the USA’s most acclaimed contemporary artists plus many up and coming street artists.

The image of Barack Obama is appearing in street art murals throughout the USA and even as far as Paris and Beijing.  But this is not the work of advertising executives, instead it’s the creation of grass roots artists who are often seen as anti-establishment and who are used to a more guerrilla-style to get their message across.

Our Brighton gallery has a collection of Shepard Fairey prints currently available. There are very few numbers of any one print, so our advice is to be quick.  To find out more, please call the gallery on +44 (0)1273 724829.
